The Italian national team set the record for the “defeats” series, by drawing with its Swiss host (0-0) in the match that brought them together on Sunday, in the qualifying rounds for the FIFA World Cup “Qatar 2022”.
Italian star Jorginho missed a golden opportunity to score for the “Azzurri” team in the 53rd minute when he took a penalty kick, and hit the ball into the hands of Swiss goalkeeper Jan Sommer.
Italy, the European champions, reached the 36th match unbeaten, breaking the European record for Spain.
Italy leads the list of Group C with 11 points, 4 points ahead of its Swiss runner-up, who played two fewer games, followed by Bulgaria in third place with 5 points.
Northern Ireland is in fourth place with 4 points from 4 matches, and then Lithuania is in the last fifth without points, after four matches.
