“Dion” .. an epic in the desert of Abu Dhabi


Coinciding with the upcoming screening of “Dion” movie screens across the region, exclusive clips and scenes were released during the filming process in Abu Dhabi, to show the details of the use of the scenic desert landscape of the emirate as a filming location for the famous sandy planet “Arakis” in the film directed by Denis Villeneuve, based on Bestselling science fiction novel by Frank Herbert.
The epic adventure movie produced by Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures was filmed in the Liwa desert over 11 days with the participation of a diverse team of local and international talent. The work benefited from cashbacks on the cost of production provided by the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, while Epic Films provided production services, in addition to the support of a number of production partners in the Emirates, including “twofour54”, “Go Ariels” and “Filmquipe Media”. “F-Stop” for photocopying services, and “Eman for transportation services”.
Exclusive behind-the-scenes scenes and footage show the cast and crew as they are on set to complete a series of key scenes in the sandy planet Arrakis, in which the action-packed events of the movie “Dion” take place.
The film tells the story of Paul Attrides, a brilliant and talented young man born to face his mysterious fate, who is forced to travel to Arrakis, the most dangerous planet in the universe, to secure the future of his family and people. Malicious and greedy forces rage in a struggle over the most precious resource that exists and is exclusively available on this planet, a commodity that unleashes the greatest potential of humankind, so that only those who can overcome their fear will survive.
“Dion” stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Batista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya and David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan Brewster with Charlotte Rampling, Jason Bardemoa and Javier. The film premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival on 3 September.
