An official at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) stated that fish food of all kinds cannot cause human infection with the Corona virus.
“I am authorized to confirm on behalf of the FAO that fish materials cannot transmit the coronavirus, and they are safe,” said Oleg Kobyakov, director of the FAO branch in Russia, in an interview with TASS on Wednesday.
He explained that this applies to fresh and frozen fish and canned food.
In 2020, China imposed restrictions on the import of fish materials from Russia, and from the beginning of this year, the Chinese authorities stopped 20 shipments of fish from Russia, claiming that the Corona virus had been found there.
And the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced late last month that the cause of the spread of the Corona virus in the food market in Wuhan in late 2019 may be the transmission of the virus with frozen food imported from abroad or from other Chinese regions.
