Last month, Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the transfer of Argentine star Lionel Messi to its ranks on a two-year contract with the possibility of renewing it for an additional year.
The sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain, Leonardo Nascimento de Araujo, made a strange statement, in which he spoke about the newly transferred Argentine star, Lionel Messi.
In an interview with Canal + TV, Araujo said that Messi did not want to leave Barcelona and move to Saint-Germain.
Araujo added: “I honestly think that he would have liked to stay in Barcelona. It is clear to me that Messi wanted not to leave the Blaugrana, and to end his football career in La Liga.”
And the “Barca Blaugrana” website quoted Araujo’s speech, in which he said: “Saint-Germain called Messi before, but that was after January, that is, 6 months before the expiration of his contract with Barcelona. We did not contact him before January 2021.”
Araujo concluded his statements by saying: “Our club’s step came after the end of Messi’s story in Barcelona. The desire that the Argentine star showed us, motivated us a lot to join him. It is wonderful for a player like Messi to play in the Saint-Germain shirt.”
Last month, Saint-Germain officially announced the transfer of Messi to its ranks with a two-year contract with the possibility of renewing it for an additional year, after Barcelona spoke about the financial and structural obstacles to the regulations of the Spanish League, which prevented the “flea” from staying with the team.
