Amazon reveals the employment of 55 thousand people in several countries

Amazon CEO Andy Gacy said the company plans to hire 55,000 people in technology and corporate activities globally in the coming months. This equals more than a third of the number of Google employees as of the end of June, and the equivalent of all Facebook employees.

In his first press interview since taking office, Gacy added that the company needs more firepower to keep pace with demand in retail, cloud computing and advertising, among other businesses..

Gacy said the company’s new bet to launch satellites into orbit to expand access to broadband, according to its project Project KuiperIt will also require a lot of new employees.

Amazon’s annual job fair is set to begin on September 15, and Gacy hopes now is a good time to hire. He pointed to an American survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, that 65% of workers want to change their jobs.

The company said the new hires would represent a 20% increase in Amazon’s technology team and corporate employees, which currently number about 275,000 globally..

When asked how he might change the demanding workplace culture at Amazon, Gacy said his intense focus on customers and innovation prepares it for improvement..

Jobs that Amazon is marketing include engineering, research science, and robotics, which are largely new to the company rather than jobs the company recently lost..

Of the more than 55,000 jobs announced by Gacy, more than 40,000 will be in the United States, while others will be in countries such as India, Germany and Japan..

It is scheduled to be a global career fair. This is after Amazon saw 22,000 people last year from India, among other places outside the United States, Gacy said.
