Algeria condemned the failed coup attempt in Sudan, calling on the African Union to intensify efforts to emphasize strengthening the process of democratization in Africa.

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, in a statement today, that at a time when the African peoples considered that the era of coups and unconstitutional changes, which were accumulating, had passed in Africa, the brotherly Sudan recently witnessed a failed coup attempt, which Algeria strongly condemns and condemns, as it is incompatible with the political agreement. and the founding texts of the Khartoum Agreements and the Juba Peace Agreement, which are part of the transition process resulting from the consensual will of the Sudanese civil and military parties.

The statement added that Algeria calls on the current president of the African Union to intensify efforts to emphasize the strengthening of the process of democratization in Africa and the adherence of member states to the basic principles of the African Union, especially the rejection of any unconstitutional change of governments and any seizure of power by force to ensure respect for the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and national unity of states. And the gains of its brotherly peoples, especially good governance.
