Doha – Qena:
Al Sadd began the title defense campaign by defeating Al Sailiya with a clean double, in the match that brought them together today at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium in Al Gharafa Club, at the conclusion of the inaugural first round of the Qatar Football League (QNB Stars League) for the football season 2021-2022.
Al Sadd’s goals were scored by Khoki Boualem in the 23rd minute, and Rodrigo Tabata in the 33rd minute.
With this result, Al Sadd scored 3 points at the start of its league campaign, while Al Sailiya’s balance remained devoid of points.
Two matches were held earlier today, the first of which ended with Al Arabi winning over Al Wakra 1-0, and Al Duhail beat Al Khor with a score of 4-1 in the second match.
The first round of the league started yesterday, Saturday, and witnessed Al Gharafa win over Al Shamal with a clean double, Qatar SC tied with Al Ahly, and Al Rayyan drew with Umm Salal with two goals for the same.
The match between Al Sadd and Al Sailiya was strong and exciting, on the part of the Al Sadd team, which succeeded in controlling the match in light of the movements of the offensive line players and the failure of Al Sailiya players to move forward.
Al Sadd almost opened the score in the 14th minute after a header from Khochi Boualem, Al Sailiya goalkeeper Mohamed Abdel Rahman managed to push it away from the corner, which Al Sadd played to reach Baghdad Bounedjah, who shot it with his head to hit the Al Sailiya crossbar before the defense pushed it off the field.
As Al Sadd’s offensive pressure continued, Boualem scored the first goal in the 23rd minute, after receiving a cross from Baghdad Bounedjah to populate Boualem’s net, announcing Al Sadd’s first goals.
Al-Sadd sought to consolidate its progress and add the second goal, where its player Rodrigo Tabata managed in the 33rd minute to guide the lead to his team, after a perfect ball from Akram Afif from the left side that reached Baghdad Bounedjah, who passed it to Tabata before he inhabited it to the left of Al Sailiya goalkeeper Mohammed Abdul Rahman.
And the last minutes of the first half passed amid attempts by Al Sailiya team to reduce the difference, before the whistle blew at the end of the half with the victory of Al Sadd with a clean double.
With the start of the second half, Al Sadd retreated after securing the victory and maintaining its progress, and did not provide the same strong performance that it had in the first half, where calm and caution dominated the performance of the two teams, despite some attempts that did not rise to the level of danger.
In the 63rd minute, Al Sailiya tried to correct its position and reduce the difference, as it intensified its attacks on the opponent’s areas, and its player Ramin Rezaian almost reduced the difference with a shot from outside the penalty area that hit the crossbar in the first real threat to Al Sadd’s goal.
Al Sailiya team pressed in the last minutes in order to reduce the difference, but all its attempts were unsuccessful in front of the defensive solidity of the Al Sadd team, until the match referee calculated two minutes of lost time, after which he whistled, announcing the end of the second half and the match winning Al Sadd with two goals without a response.
In the second round of the league, Al Sadd will face Qatar Club, while Al Sailiya will compete with Al Shamal.
