Real Madrid has renewed the contract of its French striker, Karim Benzema, until 2023, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in news of the transfer market for football players.
Romano wrote, on his Twitter account: “The contracts have been signed… Karim Benzema extends his contract with Real Madrid until June 2023.”

He added: “The papers are complete, and the official announcement is ready to appear after the renewal of Thibaut Courtois and Dani Carvajal.”
This move comes from Real Madrid, in light of the royal desire to retain the services of its French striker, after the departure of some of its stars this summer, led by former captain Sergio Ramos, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain, and Raphael Varane, who joined Manchester United.
Benzema, who joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 from Lyon, has succeeded in establishing himself as one of the most prominent stars of the Royal Club in recent years, despite being criticized from time to time for the fluctuation of his level.
The 33-year-old performed a remarkable performance last season, scoring 30 goals and providing 9 assists to his teammates during his participation in 46 games with Real Madrid in various tournaments.
It is noteworthy that Benzema participated this summer with the French national team in the “Euro 2020” competitions, and scored 4 goals before the “roosters” were eliminated by Switzerland in the round of 16.
