Al-Awadi: The launch of the national aviation strategy contributes to the implementation of plans to increase the number of travelers to the Kingdom

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) praised, in a rare tweet, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s reopening of its airspace, the resumption of international air traffic, after decisions to lift the suspension of direct travel to it from 11 countries, and the strengthening of travel facilitation procedures, while applying health precautions for “Covid-19” through Opening the Kingdom’s borders to tourists, canceling the quarantine period for vaccinated visitors, enhancing procedures to facilitate passenger movement, reissuing visas for international travelers, and strengthening health systems and measures at all airports.

“We welcome the recent decisions taken by Saudi Arabia regarding the resumption of air transport,” said Kamel Al-Awadi, IATA’s vice president for Africa and the Middle East.

He added: “We are pleased that the Kingdom continues to support the sector as a key factor in achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. It also contributes to the launch of the National Aviation Strategy, more than a year after the border closures, in implementing plans to triple the number of travelers to the Kingdom with flights to 250 destinations.” .
