An American raid targeted a truck belonging to the Popular Mobilization Militia in Iraq, at dawn on Sunday, at the town of Al-Suway’iyah, affiliated to the city of Albukamal in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, near a point on the Iraqi-Syrian border.

In the details, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the US bombardment hit a truck that was transporting ammunition belonging to the “Sayyid al-Shuhada” militia, which is affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Forces, by a drone, in the aforementioned area.

The information confirmed that the truck that was bombed was packed with a shipment of ammunition and weapons, and the targeting led to the death of the driver.

The observatory also stressed that the “Sayyid al-Shuhada” and “Hezbollah Brigades” factions are being targeted for their activities against the American forces, confirming the arrival of military reinforcements to the Iranian militias in northeastern Syria.

Amid this information, Iraqi activists pointed out that the Iranian militias have always used vegetable and fruit distribution trucks to transport weapons and ammunition from one place to another, especially on the border between the two countries, at a time when pro-militia media reported that the targeted truck was a food truck, not a weapon.

previous raids

It is worth noting that on June 28, US air strikes killed at least 7 members of pro-Iranian factions on the Iraqi-Syrian border, according to the observatory.

On the other hand, about 50 missile or drone attacks have targeted American interests in Iraq since the beginning of the year.

These attacks, which were not claimed by any party, are attributed to armed factions in the Popular Mobilization.

The latest major attack on the seventh of this July also targeted the Ain Al-Assad military base in western Iraq, where 14 missiles landed, without causing any casualties.
