The Umm Al Quwain Fishermen’s Cooperative Society confirmed the success of the “Fish Mothers Incubators in Umm Al Quwain Khor” project despite the high temperatures and the effects of other natural factors.
Jassim Humaid Al-Sharr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, said in his statements that the studies conducted on the project to preserve fish mothers in incubators, which were put up in Umm Al Quwain Khor, revealed that the numbers inside those incubators are estimated at 98% of the number that was put forward in February. The past, which helps to continue preserving these mothers and benefiting from them in the coming seasons to be a source for laying eggs with the addition of other varieties.
He pointed out that the next season will witness the addition of four species that were not introduced before in order to compensate for some depletion of the emirate’s fish stocks, and to preserve these species from extinction.
It is noteworthy that the “Fish Mothers Incubators in Umm Al Quwain Khor” project is being carried out in cooperation with the Umm Al Quwain Department of Economic Development, which runs the Fishing Regulation Committee, and the Municipality Department, the body responsible for enacting laws and monitoring in the emirate.
