Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the importance of preparing for the holding of the first Arab-Chinese summit to be hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2022.

In a joint statement after their meeting in the Egyptian city of El Alamein, Aboul Gheit and Wang expressed their aspiration that this summit would constitute a qualitative leap to advance Arab-Chinese relations and the Arab-Chinese strategic partnership to broader horizons, in a manner that serves the common interest of both sides.

The two sides affirmed their “deep satisfaction with the development of the Arab-Chinese strategic partnership relations, the level of existing cooperation between the two sides, solidarity and mutual support for issues of mutual concern to each party, and the importance of continuing to strengthen strategic relations to serve the common interests of the Arab and Chinese peoples.”

They praised “the cooperation and solidarity between China and Arab countries to combat the Corona pandemic.”

They also stressed “the importance of strengthening international cooperation for the prevention and control of the pandemic, making joint efforts, especially in the areas of vaccines and producing them locally, confronting the effects of this pandemic, rejecting its politicization, and calling for cooperation in a scientific spirit in discovering the source of the Corona virus.”

They stressed the importance of maintaining security, peace and stability and the need to reach political solutions to crises and regional issues in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and relevant agreements and references, stressing the importance of a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. .

The two sides called for “convening an international peace conference with greater credibility and broader representation in order to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East as soon as possible on the basis of the two-state solution, stressing the importance of preserving the integrity and territorial integrity of Arab countries, especially in Syria, Libya and Yemen, and the need to enhance their security and sovereignty over their territories.” their natural resources, enhancing opportunities for a political solution, rejecting foreign interference in Arab countries, and supporting the efforts of the United Nations and the League of Arab States in this regard.”
