Tehran announces negotiations with Washington to exchange prisoners

Iranian government spokesman, Ali Rabiei, said that negotiations are underway to exchange Iranian and American prisoners, and details of them will be announced when results are reached.Rabiei added in a press statement today, Tuesday: “The negotiations also include Iranian prisoners in other countries who were arrested at the request of Washington… We are ready to exchange all prisoners with the United States of America.”

In addition, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday that his country is conducting negotiations to release Iranian citizens detained in the United States and other Western countries.He added that this issue “is of great priority, and the (Iranian) Foreign Minister has always proposed the exchange of all Iranian and American prisoners, and the administration of US President Joe Biden has also attached importance to this issue since the beginning of its activities, and negotiations are underway in this regard, and if it reaches a result, it will be announced. That time”.

It is reported that Robert Malley, the US special envoy to Iran, said that the Biden administration wants the release of all Americans “unjustly detained” in Iran, and will not accept a “partial agreement” for their release.
