The Directorate of Health in Minya announced that medical services were provided to 56,000 pregnant women, which comes within the activities of the presidential initiative to care for the health of the mother and fetus, as part of the state’s efforts to care for the public health of citizens, and in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Health, and under the patronage of Major General Osama Al-Qadi, Governor Minya.
Dr. Mohamed Nadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, explained that the initiative aims to examine pregnant women from the first day of pregnancy until birth, with the aim of early detection of many diseases, the most important of which is the hepatitis virus B “syphilis and human immunodeficiency virus”, in addition to checking pressure, taking physical measurements of weight, height, and measuring blood sugar, in order to prevent the transmission of diseases from the mother to the fetus.
Dr. Ahmed Khalil, coordinator of presidential initiatives in Minya Governorate, indicated that the initiative is taking place in 260 health units and medical centers in all health departments at the level of Minya Governorate through trained medical teams, while taking all necessary preventive and precautionary measures and following infection control methods.
