Health Minister: Our duty is to be one hand to secure medicine…

The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Dr. Hamad Hassan, “Today, we will publish on the ministry’s website the regulations for subsidized and unsupported medicine,” noting that “everything that was supported during two years by the Banque du Liban is within the $100 million ceiling.”

Hassan said in a press conference held to announce the plan related to drug support: “Our duty is to be one hand in securing urgent medicine for the citizen,” adding that “the list of subsidized drugs includes medicines for chronic and incurable diseases, infant formula, vaccines, and psychological and neurological diseases.”

He stated that “the list of unsubsidized medicines includes medicines whose price is less than 12,000 pounds and what can be secured through primary health care centers,” stressing that “in light of the scarcity at the Banque du Liban, we tried with this plan to avoid a crisis that affects all Lebanese.”
