The price of the euro fell against the Egyptian pound, today, Monday, July 26, 2021, in the Central Bank of Egypt and most commercial banks.

The average price of the European euro in Egypt with the Central Bank of Egypt decreased to 18.40 pounds for purchase and 18.53 pounds for sale, compared to 18.46 pounds for purchase and 18.58 pounds for sale, yesterday.

In the National Bank of Egypt (the largest government bank), the price of the euro fell to 18.36 pounds for purchase and 18.52 pounds for sale, compared to 18.36 pounds for purchase and 18.55 pounds for sale, yesterday.

In Banque Misr (the second largest governmental bank), the euro fell to 18.36 pounds for purchase and 18.52 pounds for sale, compared to 18.37 pounds for purchase and 18.52 pounds for sale, yesterday.

As for the Commercial International Bank (the largest private bank in Egypt), the price of the euro fell to 18.38 pounds for purchase and 18.55 pounds for sale, compared to 18.40 pounds for purchase and 18.62 pounds for sale, yesterday.

Egypt achieved a large surplus in its budget for the last fiscal year, with more than 93 billion pounds, but this surplus is “preliminary” as it does not count the debt interests.

Yesterday, the Egyptian presidency said in a press statement that the primary surplus in the 2020-2021 fiscal year amounted to 1.4 percent of GDP, which amounted to 93.1 billion pounds ($5.926 billion).

The primary surplus means that the state’s revenues cover its expenses without calculating the interest on the debt.

The fiscal year in Egypt begins on the first of July until the end of June.

Egypt was targeting a total budget deficit of 7.8% and a primary surplus of 0.9% of GDP.

The statement said that Egypt also recorded a budget deficit of 7.4% in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, down from 8% a year ago.

The statement did not give details of economic growth during the last fiscal year.

The presidency said that the debt to the country’s GDP fell to 90.6 percent by the end of 2020-2021 from 108 percent in 2016-2017.

The government succeeded in increasing state revenues by 119 billion pounds, with a growth rate of 12.2 percent, in addition to a growth in expenditures at a rate of 9 percent.

The price of the dollar and sterling in Egypt

The price of the dollar at the Central Bank of Egypt recorded 15.64 pounds for purchase and 15.73 pounds for sale, which are the same prices as yesterday.

The average price of the pound sterling at the Central Bank also decreased to 21.49 pounds for purchase and 21.64 pounds for sale, compared to 21.53 pounds for purchase and 21.68 pounds for sale, yesterday.

The riyal, the dirham, and the dinar

The average price of the Saudi riyal continued to be stable at the Central Bank of Egypt at 4.16 pounds for purchase, and 4.19 pounds for sale.

In the National Bank, the price of the Saudi riyal stabilized at 4.16 pounds for purchase and 4.19 pounds for sale.

The same price was repeated in the “Misr” and “CIB” banks.

The average price of the UAE dirham reached 4.257 pounds for purchase and 4.285 pounds for sale.

The average price of the Kuwaiti dinar at the Central Bank decreased to 51.97 pounds for purchase and 52.32 pounds for sale, compared to 52 pounds for purchase and 52.34 pounds for sale, yesterday.
