Figo: The president of Real Madrid apologized to me after the recent leaks

The former Real Madrid star, Luis Figo, considered that the case of the recent leaks published by the president of Real, Florentino Perez, in which he criticizes a number of former club stars, has ended after Perez’s apology.

The retired Portuguese star, who played for Real Madrid between 2000 and 2005, said in statements highlighted by the Spanish newspaper “AS”: “I think private conversations may contain phrases that are out of context. I spoke to him (Peres), and he apologized to me, and for that the case is closed.” He added, “Peres apologized to me in a private conversation, so it is over.”

The newspaper “El Confidencial” published audio recordings of Perez dating back to the period between 2006 and 2012, in which he criticized in a humiliating way the legends of the royal club, such as goalkeeper Iker Casillas, Raul Gonzalez, Luis Figo, and Portuguese coach Mourinho, in addition to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Perez said about Figo in the leaks: “Figo is like Raul, he was a very toxic player, both are on equal terms, they are the worst players.”

These leaks came at a time when Perez is under fire for his prominent role in the efforts to establish the European Super League, which was rejected by the European Football Association.
