With the details of the news: Egypt breaking news – Egypt News: After its release yesterday… Learn about the new Chrome 92 features

Google releases new Chrome versions every six weeks, and the latest version to be released is Chrome 92 Chrome 92, where the “android police” website said, the new browser has been available for download since yesterday, Wednesday, and it is full of interface experiences, security improvements, web application improvements, and upgrades. the performance.

In the following lines, we show you everything you need to know about the new Chrome 92 browser.

1- Interface experiences:

Google is constantly tweaking Chrome’s interface with various A/B tests, and the latest version of Chrome seems to activate some differences for some people.

After integrating Google Lens search with normal image search in Chrome, Google is now also bringing the Lens Camera shortcut to Chrome’s address bar, with the camera icon in the upper right corner for some.

Google is also continuing its experiments with additional buttons in the top bar. For some people, Chrome 92 adds a new tab button between the address bar and tab switcher while others see a share button.

We’ve already seen Chrome experiment with these layouts, but it looks like Google is getting more aggressive about pushing it to users. We have more details about this experience in our dedicated coverage.

For the desktop, Google offers additional Chrome actions, which we covered earlier as part of the Chrome OS update.

Chrome Actions is a quick way to control some browser features right from the address bar, where you can type things like “clear cookies” or “manage passwords” to go directly to the corresponding settings section.

In Chrome 92, Google adds three new commands: Manage Security Settings, Manage Sync, and Security Check, and the latter lets you quickly check the security of passwords, extensions, and more.

2- Site isolation improvements:

The new Chrome version also gets improvements in site isolation. Site Isolation was first introduced in 2018, due to Specter and Meltdown security flaws in Intel and ARM chips, and while it removes some attack vectors, its downside was increased RAM usage.

Chrome 92 extends site isolation to browser extensions, preventing them from sharing processes with each other. This gives you an extra layer of security without removing any existing capabilities of the extensions.

On Android, Google keeps performance prioritizing over strictly isolating all sites, and in essence it will still be that way in Chrome 92, however the new version adds a few more rules.

“Site isolation will be applied to sites where users log in via third-party providers, as well as sites with Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy headers,” Google wrote in a blog post.

3- More efficient phishing protection:

In the phishing section, Google claims that “detection is now 50 times faster and uses less power” thanks to advances in image processing. To identify phishing sites, Chrome analyzes the color profile of the visited page and compares it to a group of known phishing sites. When a match is found, the browser will issue a warning and discourage you from visiting the site in question.

Because Google does not send these color profiles to its servers to protect your privacy by default, the images must be processed on your device, and Google has improved this process by reducing the number of calculations and by grouping pixels of similar colors together. This results in less CPU usage (1.2% of total CPU time, to be exact), better battery life, and earlier warnings. Check Google for a deeper dive.

4- File Processing API:

You know how you can select which app to open certain types of files on Android? Right now, this dialog is mostly limited to apps that are already installed (or at least those installed through the Play Store), but Google wants to change that for added web apps to your phone via Chrome. Once the developers implement support for it, you will be able to choose a web application as the default destination for opening certain types of files.

The same change will also come to web apps installed via Chrome on desktops, as these apps will live in the right-click menu alongside the native apps. This will make it easier to rely on web apps for workflows that include local files, which is something Important for photo and text editors and the like.

Google describes, for example, that after a PWA text editor has registered itself as a file handler, you can right-click a .txt file in your operating system’s file manager and instruct that PWA (always or only once) to open .txt files. This means that Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) are just a click (double) away from the file manager.

5- Video conferencing procedures in PIP view:

While there are dedicated desktop software for most video conferencing platforms, a lot of things can also be done in Chrome these days, and Google wants to enhance the experience even further by adding optional buttons to picture-in-picture modes for conferencing. Chrome 92 is experimenting with support for microphone and camera switches as well as the end call button, although support isn’t immediately stable.

6- Revive Google Reader:

Google is working on an RSS reader of some sort for the new tab page. When you activate the web-feed experience (chrome://flags/#web-feed), you will get the option to follow websites that contain RSS feeds. They will appear in the new following tab on the new tab page next to the Discover Feed. Things are still a bit tricky at the moment, but the feature will soon be ready for prime time. (If Google doesn’t scrap this completely, it can always happen with experiments in development.)
