Bong Joon-ho chairs the jury at the Venice Film Festival – Thought and Art – Stars and Celebrities


South Korean “Parasite” director Bong Joon-ho will chair the jury at the upcoming Venice Film Festival, and the jury includes Chinese director Chloe Zhao among its members. The course will be held from 1 to 11 September in Venice.

In 2019, “Parasite” won the Palme d’Or at the French Festival de Cannes, and in 2020 it achieved a historic double win at the Oscars, winning the Best Foreign Film and Best Film award.

In addition to Bong Joon-ho, a number of big names will be on the panel, including Chinese director Chloe Zhao, who won three Oscars for her movie “Nomadland” this year, one of which was in the best picture category.

Also on the committee is the French actress Virginie Evra, the heroine of Paul Verhoeven’s “Benedetta”, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival recently, and deals with the same-sex relationship between two nuns in a medieval convent.

Also on the committee is the Italian director and screenwriter Saverio Costanzo, owner of the series “L’Ameca Geniale”, adapted from a book of the same title by Elena Ferrante. The panel also includes British theater and film actress, singer and composer Cynthia Erivo, Canadian actress and producer Sarah Gidon, and Romanian director Alexandre Nanau.
