Food exports jump to two billion dollars in 6 months
Egypt’s food exports jumped by 13% during the first half of this year, to reach $2.052 billion, compared to $1.82 billion during the same period in 2020, according to the Export Council for Food Industries, which clarified that last March’s exports were the highest value of exports, at a value of 382 million. Dollars, and May exports, which amounted to 351 million dollars, achieved the highest growth rate in the value of exports compared to May 2020.

Egyptian furniture exports jumped during the first half of 2021 by 38%, to reach 131.742 million dollars, compared to 95.309 million dollars during the same period in 2020, according to the Furniture Export Council. The sector’s exports rose during June by 16% to 16,887 million dollars, compared to 14.574 million dollars. During June 2020, “Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman and Sudan” accounted for 73.5% of the total exports, with a value of $97 million.

181% increase in cement exports within 5 months

The Central Bank offers treasury bills and bonds worth 19.5 billion pounds
Today, Monday, the Central Bank issued treasury bills and bonds worth 19.5 billion pounds, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance; To fill the budget deficit, bonds worth 11 billion pounds were issued, the first offering amounted to 6.5 billion pounds for a term of 91 days, and the second offering amounted to 4.5 billion pounds for a term of 273 days. The bank also offered treasury bonds worth 8.5 billion pounds for a period of 3 years.

Oil prices fell nearly a dollar today, as concerns about demand caused by the spread of mutated strains of the Corona virus, as well as torrential rains in China, were dispelled, following expectations of tight supplies during the rest of the year, and Brent crude futures, for September delivery, fell 95 cents, or 1.3 percent, to 73.15 dollars a barrel in Asian trading, while US West Texas Intermediate crude reached 71.11 dollars a barrel, down 96 cents.
