The Egyptian Ziad Al-Sisi came out of the 16th round of the fencing of Al-Hussam in the Tokyo Olympics, today, Saturday, after he made a fiery start and overthrew the European and world champion in the 32nd round.
Al-Sisi fell 12-15 against Georgian Sandro Bazadze, ranked eighth in the world.
Al-Sisi, ranked 24th in the world, had a thrilling 15-13 victory over the 2019 European champion and the world champion in 2013, Russian Veniamin Reshetnikov, ranked ninth in the world.
Algerian Akram Bonabi also lost in the 64th round of the Al-Hassam duel against Japan’s Kaito Straits 9-15, and was joined by Tunisian Fares Ferjani, who was eliminated in the 32nd round against Italian Enrico Peri 10-15.
Among the women, Tunisian Sarah Besbes, the 2019 African champion and the 2015 World Championship bronze medalist in Moscow, was eliminated from the 32nd round of fencing, against Italian Isola Federica 12-14, knowing that she finished fifth in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
