Omar Hisham Hejres, a founding member and CEO of “Trella”, said that his company had raised $42 million in funding during a financing round.
Hejres added in an interview with Al-Arabiya, that these funds included $30 million from my company.Maerskand Raed Ventures.
And “Trella” is a digital platform that connects truck drivers with cargo owners who want to transport it, and it has more than 350 chargers registered on the application among them.
He stated that “Trella” is seeking to obtain more funds from banks to finance future expansions.
Hejres had said in a previous statement that the funding would be used for expansion in the Gulf states during the next nine months, and in Africa over a period of 12 months.
He pointed out that Trella may offer its shares to the public within three to five years, but it is likely that this will be outside Egypt.
Hejres told Al Arabiya that his company operates in 3 markets: Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan, explaining that most of the dealers on the platform in Egypt and Pakistan are individuals or families who own from one to five cars.
In Saudi Arabia, 50% of the dealers are large transport companies, and 50% are small companies that own less than 5 cars.
The CEO explained that the payment method is done on credit for the carrier partners every week or two for small companies, while the big companies are paid within one to three months.
