The German national football team, under the age of 21, was crowned champion of the European Youth Football Championship, hosted by Hungary and Slovenia, by defeating its Portuguese counterpart in the final with a goal for free. The German team owes the credit to its star Lukas Nemica, who scored the only goal in the match in the 49th minute of the match.
Nmicha also raised his scoring tally in the tournament to four goals, to be crowned top scorer. This is the third title for the German youth team in the continental championship after its titles in 2009 and 2017.
On the other hand, the Portuguese youth team failed to win its first title in the competition, after continuing the series of failures in the final matches of the tournament, which it lost for the third time.
