Today, Thursday, Turkish Industry Minister Mustafa Varank announced the discovery of 20 tons of gold and 3.5 tons of silver in the eastern state of Ağrı.
This came in a speech during the foundation stone laying ceremony for a facility of “Koza Gold Corporation” for gold mining in the state of Agri.
And Rank explained that the amount of gold discovered amounted to 20 tons, with a value of 1.2 billion dollars, in addition to 3.5 tons of silver, worth 2.8 million dollars, adding that the facility whose foundation stone was laid today is of great importance to the state and the national economy, noting that the value of the investment in the facility amounted to 160 million. dollars.
He also pointed out that his country has made great strides in the field of mining and that they attach great importance to developing the mining industry and providing incentives to investors in order to meet the country’s needs.
And Rank affirmed that his country provided support and incentives to develop the mining sector at a value of 6 billion dollars, pointing to the production of 24 tons of gold from 18 mines during the past year.
He added that Turkey had previously imported 100 percent of its gold needs from abroad, and that today it is contributing $2.4 billion to reducing the current account deficit through its domestic gold production.
