“The Mauritanian” opens the activities of the summer edition of the “Berlin Film Festival”

The summer edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) kicks off today, Wednesday.

The activities will kick off on Museum Island with the screening of the movie “The Mauritanian,” in which American actress Jodie Foster plays the role of a lawyer who helps a detainee at Guantanamo Bay in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Because of the Corona pandemic, the festival was divided into two parts, with experts in the first part last March watching films online. Now the films will be shown to the public in open spaces.

Sixty thousand tickets were allocated to watch the festival’s performances.

The Berlinale is one of the largest film festivals in the world, in addition to Cannes and Venice.
