The General Authority for Audiovisual Media issued a certificate of release and classification for the first Saudi movie exempted from the fees for tickets, which is the animated movie “The Journey” produced by the manga production company affiliated with the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation “Misk Charity”.

In April 2021, the board of directors of the General Authority for Audio-Visual Media issued a decision approving the exemption of local films from any financial compensation for the authority, in support of the authority and the Film Authority of the Ministry of Culture for local film producers, artists and local content makers.

This initiative comes with the support of Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film Authority, and Minister of Information in charge, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Audio-Visual Media, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi. The initiative aims to reach a developed Saudi cinema industry capable of global competition. And it is a strategic tributary of the national economy.
