Syria defeats Qatar and qualifies for the Asian Basketball Championship finals.
The Syrian national team succeeded in qualifying for the finals of the Asian Basketball Championship, scheduled in Indonesia, after the conclusion of the fifth round competitions that were held in Jordan.
The “Nour Qasioun” team played without the players Abdel Wahab Al-Hamwi and Hani Derby, because they were infected with the Corona virus, while the Syrian team’s administration expelled the naturalized American player George Kell from the team’s ranks because of his visit to the occupied territories.
Syria defeated Qatar 67-56 to qualify for the finals for the seventh time.
The Syrian national team qualified for the finals by coming second in Group E behind the leader Iran, which had qualified for the Asian Championship.
