Saudi Arabia: Corona’s mutations and the global shortage of vaccines are behind the delay in announcing the Hajj mechanism


Today (Sunday), the Saudi Minister of Information, Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, attributed the reason for his country’s delay in announcing the mechanism of Hajj this year to the mutations of the emerging “Corona” virus, and the scarcity of vaccines in the world.

Dr. Al-Qasabi said during the periodic press conference for government communication, that the continuous evolution of the virus, the lack of clarity of the damage caused by its spread, and the scarcity of vaccines in many countries, caused a delay in announcing the shape of the upcoming Hajj season, noting that the Ministers of “Health” and “ Hajj» will explain in the coming days the mechanism that will be performed Hajj this year in light of these challenges.

He praised the efforts of the Kingdom’s government and its taking all measures, precautions and health measures in order to coexist with the pandemic, as it was at the forefront of the world in terms of providing vaccines, and it contracted more than twice the number of its population of vaccine doses, indicating that the proportion of those who received the vaccine to date has reached 40 percent. of the population, which is equivalent to 15 million doses so far.

The Minister of Information added, “We are proud today to reap the harvest of (Vision 2030), which we celebrated yesterday, the fifth anniversary of its launch, and during which we achieved many achievements at all levels,” explaining that one million and 800 thousand benefited from the “Ehsan” platform, through which donations exceeded more than 800 million riyals so far.

On the Arab level, he stressed his country’s firm stance towards the Palestinian cause and the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, pointing out that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, during his call with President Mahmoud Abbas, affirmed Saudi Arabia’s condemnation and condemnation of the Israeli attacks and measures in the city of Jerusalem, and the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

With regard to the international issue, Dr. Al-Qasabi expressed his pride in the international national achievement represented by the adoption of the “Riyadh Initiative” by the United Nations, which includes the establishment of a global network of anti-corruption law enforcement authorities, and a global electronic platform for exchanging information and experiences between 186 countries. He considered the initiative a global precedent confirming the leading role Saudi Arabia in this field.

On laying the foundations for security and stability, conflict resolution and combating terrorism in Africa, the Minister of Information said that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz stressed during his speech at the Paris Summit the leading role of Saudi Arabia in advancing development in the countries of the African continent and promoting investment in them.
