The Saudi national team defeated its Yemeni counterpart 3-0 in the match that brought them together today, Saturday, in the joint qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar 2022 and the Asian Cup in China 2023.
The match took place at the Marsool Park Stadium in the capital, Riyadh, as part of the fourth group qualifiers.
The Saudi “Green” opened the scoring early in the fourth minute through Salem Al-Dosari, before Fahd Al-Mawlid added two goals in the 17th and 32nd minutes.
With this victory, the Saudi team came very close to resolving the qualification ticket after raising its score in the lead to 14 points, while the balance of the Yemeni team stopped at 5 points at the bottom of the standings.
The first place holder in each of the eight groups in the qualifiers, along with the four best second-placed teams, qualifies directly to the 2023 Asian Cup finals, and the decisive role in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
