Saudi Arabia clarifies the reason for relieving the director of the Imams and Muezzins Affairs at the Prophet’s Mosque

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi authorities announced, on Tuesday, the dismissal of the Director of the Department of Imams and Muezzins Affairs at the Prophet’s Mosque, as a result of “work shortcomings.”

This came in a statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency, in which he stated that “His Excellency the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, issued a decision to relieve the Director of the Department of Imams and Muezzins Affairs in the Prophet’s Mosque and the Undersecretary of the Department from their positions due to work shortcomings.”

The report added that Al-Sudais assigned “the Under-Secretary-General for Steering Affairs to directly supervise and restructure the administration.”

Al-Sudais stressed, according to the report of the Saudi Agency, that “the presidency and its agencies will not tolerate any shortcoming that hinders its development according to its 2024 development plan,” stressing that “all necessary measures will be taken to hold the negligent and negligent accountable.”
