The Director of the Gamalia National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health, Alexander Ginzburg, announced the success of a test to vaccinate children with the “Sputnik V” vaccine against “Covid-19” through a nasal spray.
Ginzburg said, during an event held today, Saturday in the Kremlin, with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, that the Gamalia Center, which developed the “Sputnik V” vaccine, baited children aged 8 to 12 years through a nasal spray, noting that the test showed the presence of ” Very good protection” from infection with the emerging coronavirus “Covid-19” among vaccinators.
He explained that no HIV infections were detected in the children participating in the test, and none of them had any side effects.
The prominent Russian scientist explained that the same substance that is used to vaccinate adults was used, “only instead of the needle, a spray is placed,” but he indicated that vaccinating children requires a lower dose of the serum.
He stated during the meeting that the pediatric dose is expected to be ready for distribution by September 15.
The Russian “Sputnik V” represents the first registered vaccine in the world against the emerging corona virus that causes “Covid-19” infection, and clinical tests conducted in 3 stages previously revealed that this two-dose vaccine is safe and its effectiveness exceeds 91% in preventing the disease, which It was confirmed by the medical journal “The Lancet”.
