Ronaldo wins European Player of the 21st Century award


Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo won the award for the best European player of the 21st century, in a poll conducted by the BBC “BBC”.

He competed with Ronaldo, the most prominent legends of European football in the last two decades, such as Zinedine Zidane, Paolo Maldini, Andres Iniesta and Thierry Henry.

Two players are presented to the audience to choose between them, and whoever gets the most votes qualifies for the next round, until reaching the final.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric reached the final poll, with the Portuguese winning the award with 56% of the vote, compared to 44% for Luca.

On his way to the final referendum, Ronaldo passed both The Frenchman Henry with 57%, his compatriot Zidane with 51%, and the Italian Paolo Maldini with 61%.

As for Modric, he beat Spain’s Xabi Alonso with 80%, then Dutchman Denis Bergkamp with 53%, and Spain’s Xabi Hernandez with 72%.
