Religious institutions announced their support for the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to allow registration for those wishing to perform the Hajj rituals for the year 1442 AH to citizens and residents inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only, with a total of 60,000 pilgrims, in light of what the whole world is witnessing from the continuing developments of the emerging Corona Virus (Covid 19) pandemic and the emergence of new mutations for him.

For his part, Dr. Abbas Shoman, the former deputy undersecretary of Al-Azhar and supervisor of the fatwa, said that the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is in the interest of Muslims, and to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims.Shoman continued, in press statements after Saudi Arabia announced today, Saturday, the regulations for Hajj for the current year, saying that the continuation of the new Corona virus crisis, for the second year in a row, requires the Saudi leadership to preserve the lives of Muslims and not endanger them, and that the Kingdom does not delay serving Muslims. Whether on the pilgrimage or otherwise.

The former Al-Azhar representative pointed to the agreement of all religious institutions inside and outside Egypt that Saudi Arabia does not hesitate to provide services to all Muslims, stressing that the Kingdom acts out of responsibility and in accordance with the controls and procedures set by health scientists, and that Saudi Arabia has sufficient experience to organize Hajj in full numbers, had it not been The crisis of the spread of the Corona virus that imposed itself on the whole world.

In a related context, Dr. Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, praised, in an official statement today, Saudi Arabia’s decision to organize Hajj in limited numbers this year due to the Corona pandemic, and said that it is a wise decision that achieves the purposes of Sharia with self-preservation, especially in light of the accelerating spread of this epidemic.

The Grand Mufti of the Republic added: The decision of the authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to conduct Hajj this year in limited numbers of citizens and residents inside the Kingdom to confront the spread of the Corona virus is in accordance with the provisions and purposes of Islamic Sharia to preserve the lives and safety of pilgrims and guests of Rahman.

Allam also called on all countries of the world to fully cooperate and unite to confront this dangerous epidemic, and work to confront it as soon as possible.

And Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Jumaa, Minister of Awqaf, announced his support for Saudi Arabia’s decision to limit the Hajj this year to limited numbers of citizens and residents inside the Kingdom, taking into account the purpose of preserving lives in the shadow of Corona.

The Minister of Awqaf wrote, through his official page on the social networking sites Facebook and Twitter: “I support and salute the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to limit the Hajj this year to limited numbers of citizens and residents inside the Kingdom, taking into account the purpose of preserving lives in light of the Corona pandemic.”

For its part, the Al-Azhar International Center for Electronic Fatwa confirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s decision and the controls it has set for Hajj this year in light of the Corona pandemic, explaining that there are 4 acts that modify the reward of Hajj and Umrah.

Al-Azhar Center for Fatwa explained these actions as follows:

The meaning: that the servant with his sincere intention obtains the reward of worship that he was unable to perform, or a barrier prevented him from performing it, and Hajj and Umrah are among these acts of worship.

2- Honoring one’s parents: the reward for honoring one’s parents and being kind to them is like the reward of Hajj and Umrah A man came to the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – and said: I desire jihad, and I am not able to do it. 3- The Duha prayer after the dawn prayer in congregation: The Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – explained the reward of the dhikr and the Qur’an sitting after the dawn prayer until sunrise, and the Duha prayer after sunrise about a third of an hour, and he told that its reward is the same as the reward of Hajj and Umrah, so he said – peace and blessings be upon him -: «Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun, then prayed two, was a reward like an argument, and Umrah, complete, complete, complete», [أخرجه الترمذي], but with taking all preventive measures against the Corona virus, and maintaining safe distances.
