The CEO of the Qatar Investment Authority, Mansour Al Mahmoud, called for waiting in the field of investing in cryptocurrencies.
He said during his participation in the Qatar Economic Forum, which concludes its activities today, Thursday, that cryptocurrencies need a little maturity before deciding to invest in them, noting that speculation in cryptocurrencies prevents the Qatari sovereign wealth fund from investing in one of the most volatile asset classes in the world.
He explained that instead of crypto assets, the Qatar Investment Authority will focus on further enhancing investments in Asia and the United States, looking to balance the concentration of European assets in its portfolio.
The Qatar Investment Authority, which was established in 2005, manages assets in various sectors around the world worth more than $360 billion.
Al Mahmoud indicated that the Qatar Investment Authority will focus its investments in the coming period on retail and office real estate, in response to the impact of the Corona pandemic.
