World number three, Rafael Nadal beats Schwartzman to reach the French Open semi-finals.
World number three, Rafael Nadal, has reached the semi-finals of the “Roland Garros” tournament, after defeating Argentine Diego Schwartzman, in a match that saw him lose a group, the first in the French championship since 2019.
Nadal won 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, in a meeting that lasted two hours and 45 minutes, in a scenario reminiscent of last year’s semi-final, which Nadal decided in his favour.
The Spanish player is waiting in the semi-finals to face the Serbian Novak Djokovic, the world leader, and the Italian Matteo Bertini, ranked ninth in the world.
Nadal is looking for his 21st Grand Slam title, to surpass Roger Federer (20 titles), and achieve his 14th title in the French Championship.

In turn, German sixth seed Alexander Zverev reached the same round for the first time in his career, after defeating Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.
Zverev, 24, did not find it difficult to book his ticket to the semi-finals for the first time in “Roland Garros” and the third in the “Grand Slam”, as his best result was reaching the US Open final last year, when he lost to Austrian Dominic Tim.
