Manchester United star Paul Pogba has excluded Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi from his Ballon d’Or calculations, and considered that N’Golo Kante is the most deserving of this award.
Kante led Chelsea to the Champions League, and was perhaps the best player in coach Thomas Tuchel’s squad in the semi-finals and final, attracting all eyes to him.
Pogba, in an interview with Euro Sport, praised what his colleague in the French national team is providing, and stressed that Kante’s level is always consistent, regardless of the situation of his team.
The United star said: “What I would like to say to the whole world is that the N’Golo Kante version we’ve seen in recent months has always been the same. He’s always been that good.”
Pogba added, “Neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi reached the semi-finals, so it is good to look at the performance of midfielders and defenders.”
“I said a long time ago that if Chelsea win the Champions League it would be appropriate for Kante to win the Ballon d’Or, it would be fully deserved.”
It is worth noting that Ronaldo and Messi were satisfied with winning the cup only in Italy and Spain, with their failure to pass the round of 16 in the Champions League.
