Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has great potential as a platform for dialogue on common Euro-Atlantic problems and for collective positive decisions to solve them.
“We see and appreciate your commitment to move forward, in order to achieve such results,” the Russian minister added, while opening talks with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Helga Schmid.
Lavrov noted that the program of Helga Schmid’s visit to Moscow is very intensive and includes a speech at the Ninth Moscow Conference on International Security, as well as a speech at the meeting of the Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
“I hope that today, as well as in the framework of other events that you will participate in in Russia, we will be able to exchange views in detail on the situation in the ongoing activity of the OSCE in the political, economic, environmental and human rights fields, as well as a large separate set of conflicts,” Lavrov added. , in the settlement of which the organization participates, in particular the internal Ukrainian conflict and the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and Transnistria.
For her part, Schmid expressed her gratitude to Minister Lavrov, “for his personal contribution to the organization over the years”, and noted that, in her capacity as OSCE Secretary-General, she was “committed to reliable dialogue, as well as to the strict implementation of commitments”.
