Italy sets the date for the obligatory abolition of the wearing of masks in open spaces

Russia on Tuesday recorded 546 deaths linked to the Covid-19 disease, the highest death toll in a single day since February, amid a rise in new cases that authorities attribute to the spread of the new “delta” strain of the Corona virus.

The government task force on combating the pandemic confirmed that 16,715 new cases had been detected in the past 24 hours, of which 6,555 were in Moscow, bringing the total number of infections in the country to five million, 350,919 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Yesterday, Russia recorded 17,378 new infections, of which 7,584 were in Moscow.

Last Friday, the mayor of Moscow said that the Russian capital will extend the restrictions imposed this week to combat Covid-19 until June 29.

Sergei Sobyanin said in his blog that the measures included a ban on public events with more than a thousand people taking part, the closure of cafes and restaurants at night, and the closure of football fan zones for the European Championship.

Sobyanin had said that Moscow was facing a new, fierce strain of the Corona virus.
