The Italian national team qualified for the round of 16 of the European Football Championship after defeating its Swiss counterpart 3-0 in the match that brought them together today, Wednesday, in Group A.
The “Azzurri” hat-trick was scored by Manuel Locatelli “two goals” in the 26th and 52nd minutes, and Ciro Immobile, one minute before the end of the original time.

Russian referee Sergei Karasev officiated the match, which was held in the second round of Group A competitions at the Olympic Stadium in the capital, Rome.
With this victory, the Italian team raised its score to 6 points at the top of the first group from two matches, after its victory in the opening match against Turkey by three clean goals as well, to ensure its official qualification to the next round.
On the other hand, Switzerland’s balance stopped at an orphan point collected from its first match, in which it drew 1-1 against Wales.
The standings of the first group after two rounds of the group stage:
1- Italy 6 points (from 2 wins)
2- Wales 4 points (a draw and a win)
3- Switzerland 1 point (from a draw and a loss)
4- Turkey without points (after two losses).
The winners and runners-up of each of the six groups will qualify for the Round of 16, in addition to the best 4 third-placed teams.
