A man armed with a knife killed five people and wounded 15 others in eastern China, without specifying his motive, state television reported.
The incidents took place yesterday afternoon, in the streets of Anqing, 1,200 kilometers south of Beijing in Anhui Province, state television CCTV reported.
Anking Public Security Bureau said in a statement on the social network Weibo that an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances of the tragedy, which occurred on a pedestrian and shopping street.
In April, a man armed with a knife killed two children and wounded 16 others at a school in southern China.
In 2018, a man stabbed nine children to death in the north of the country and was subsequently sentenced to death.
