Mike Ryan, director of the emergency program at the World Health Organization, stressed today, Monday, that the organization cannot force China to reveal more information about the origin of Corona.
Urged by a journalist about how the organization would “force” China to be more transparent, Ryan said: “The WHO does not have the power to force anyone to do so.”
He added, “We expect full cooperation, contribution and support from all member states in this endeavor,” noting that the organization will propose conducting the necessary studies to find out where the virus has moved to the “next stage.”
There are conflicting theories about the origin of the virus between its transmission from animals to humans or its leakage from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.
Members of the organization’s team, which visited China early this year to investigate the origin of Corona, said that they had not obtained all the necessary data, which sparked controversy about the extent of China’s transparency.
