The Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee held its seventeenth session today in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, headed by the Saudi Minister of Commerce and Minister of Information, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, and headed by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Nevin Jameh, on the part of the Arab Republic of Egypt. In the presence of government officials in various sectors in the two countries.
His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Minister of Information in charge Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, in his speech during the opening of the work of the Seventeenth Committee, conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense -may God protect them-, referring to the depth of relations between the two brotherly countries, which are based on ties of religion, brotherhood, dialogue, history and common interests that unite the two brotherly countries.
His Excellency said that the committee is an extension of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – and his brother, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the importance of bilateral work to strengthen brotherly ties and consolidate cooperation and move it to a higher level, explaining that the Saudi-Egyptian Committee It is considered one of the effective committees between the two countries, as it reached its seventeenth session, which is held annually, although it could not be held last year due to the Corona pandemic.
His Excellency expressed his aspiration for the contribution of these meetings to enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries, which amounted to $8 billion for the year 2020 AD, which witnessed a decrease of 15% compared to 2019 due to the repercussions of the pandemic on global economies, stressing that the most important thing is currently strengthening bilateral cooperation. After the pandemic, to strengthen economic cooperation, take advantage of the opportunities it created, and protect investments in the two countries.
His Excellency Dr. Al-Qasabi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry and to members of the technical teams for their efforts in preparing well for the meetings of this session and their keenness to discuss everything that would enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries in all fields to advance the process of this cooperation to reach fruitful results to serve Common interests.
His Excellency indicated this with the resulting meetings of the two sides during the past days and the recommendations and actions they agreed upon of interest to the two countries in all fields of cooperation, wishing the Almighty God for success and payment and for achieving the goals they set for that meet the aspirations and aspirations of the two countries and peoples.
For her part, the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevin Gamea, stressed that the Egyptian-Saudi relations are rich in definition and presentation, as our relationship reflects brotherhood, friendship and joint support in all fields, indicating that it is a successful model to be emulated in cooperation between brothers because it is based on equality and common interests.
She said: This was reflected in the continuous coordination efforts between the two countries in a positive manner, as evidenced by the growth of trade exchange, which is witnessing a steady growth and increase year after year, and its value exceeded 5.5 billion dollars until 2020.
She pointed out that the Egyptian government is making great efforts and providing a suitable business environment, whether for international trade or investment, to serve investors, expressing her hope that these serious fields will have a positive impact for Saudi companies to pump more investments in Egypt and create great industrial and commercial cooperation.
She called on Egyptian-Saudi businessmen and companies to take full advantage of the depth of relations between the two countries and to move effectively and dynamically. As a strategic partner for a highly competitive era.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Minister of Information in charge, Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, and His Excellency the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Nevin Jameh, signed the minutes of the work of the joint committee and the items and recommendations contained therein that contribute to strengthening joint work between the Kingdom and Egypt.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Egypt, Osama bin Ahmed Naqli, the head of the Saudi side in the Joint Business Council, Bandar Al-Amiri, and members of the two delegations from the two brotherly countries.
