The SDRPY, in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank Group, launched the first workshop of the capacity-building program of the Yemeni Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, with the participation of the Saudi Ministry of Finance and the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning, at the program’s headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation in Yemen Waed Abdullah Badeb The General Supervisor of the Program, Ambassador Muhammad bin Saeed Al Jaber, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Finance for the Development of Financial Policies, Abdulwahab Ibrahim Al-Babtain, and a number of officials in the Kingdom, the Yemeni government and the Islamic Development Bank.
The President of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr. Bandar Hajjar, stressed that the first workshop for the capacity-building program of the Yemeni Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, which was launched today, is an embodiment of cooperation between the Bank and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, according to the executive program agreed upon by the two sides last May. I take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which paved the way for the meeting and mobilized all the actors today to assist the Yemeni government in the reconstruction of Yemen. There is no doubt that capacity-building and the provision of national competencies in various fields represent the important and decisive factor in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Yemen. The executive program for holding workshops that will enlighten the way on what should be done in this field so that the start is strong and effective and provide the necessary support to the Yemeni government in its program for the reconstruction of Yemen.
For his part, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation in Yemen, Waed Badheeb, directed his sincere thanks and great appreciation and gratitude to the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their tireless efforts to support the development process and the prominent and distinguished role of the SDRPY in supporting the development process, clearly since its announcement.
He added that there should be capable government institutions with qualified human cadres commensurate with the needs of the current circumstances is a real preparation and an essential door of the development that we seek to enhance our economic capabilities, which will be the result of strengthening the human and institutional capabilities of the ministries working in this field, and therefore our meeting today comes in order to strengthen The steps taken by the leadership of our two brotherly and neighboring countries in building a comprehensive development vision to build the capabilities of the Yemeni state.
Badeb highly valued the humanitarian and development support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Yemen, whether in the various humanitarian response conferences or direct and generous or indirect support in the areas of development and economic recovery.
For his part, the General Supervisor of the SDRPY, Ambassador Muhammad bin Saeed Al Jaber, stressed the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the government, state institutions and its people in brotherly Yemen, and the Kingdom’s contribution for decades to providing economic, development and humanitarian support in all fields, indicating that the Kingdom does not It fails to support Yemen in humanitarian and development terms according to a strategy and vision that takes care of the Yemeni person first, addresses his needs, and improves his daily living.
Al Jaber added that this workshop will be the beginning of multiple activities aimed at providing two main parallel and complementary tracks, the first of which is to strengthen the institutional capacities in the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Finance, in cooperation and partnership with the Islamic Bank Group and relevant authorities in the Kingdom, and secondly, to work with these institutions, organizations and international partners under the leadership of the Ministry of Finance. Planning and international cooperation to build a ten-year development vision and a five-year strategy for development, reconstruction and economic recovery, and to support and build effective partnerships with international development institutions and international financial institutions.
He added: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently supported the Republic of Yemen with a grant of oil derivatives through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, in coordination and cooperation with the Yemeni government and local authorities, to operate more than 80 Yemeni stations, worth $422 million, in support of achieving living and economic stability for the Yemeni people. In addition to the development and reconstruction projects through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, which exceeded 198 development projects and initiatives.
The capacity building program comes as a continuation of the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support stability in Yemen, which creates a suitable environment for more development projects in Yemen, and contributes to strengthening the Yemeni economy and improving daily living through the SDRPY.
The capacity building program launched today is an extension of the cooperation between the SDRPY and the Islamic Development Bank Group, as one of the outputs of the Executive Program for Development Cooperation in Yemen, which aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two sides, unify development efforts, and build the future vision for development and reconstruction in Yemen. , in cooperation with the Yemeni government and development partners.
