Farah fails to reach the qualifying time for the Olympics

Britain’s four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah is at risk of missing out on the Tokyo Olympics after failing to achieve the qualifying time in the 10,000m race in Birmingham on Saturday.

Farah, 38, finished the race in eighth place with a time of 27 minutes 50:54 seconds, 22 seconds behind the time required to join the British team participating in the Tokyo Olympics next month.

Farah, the winner of the five and ten thousand meters races in the last two editions of the Olympics, has until June 27 to achieve at least 27 minutes and 28 seconds.

The British runner seemed to focus on the marathon after the Rio Olympics, but at the end of 2019 he announced his desire to defend the ten thousand meters title in the Tokyo Games, which were postponed last year due to the Corona virus pandemic.
