Eurozone consumer sentiment jumps to highest level since January 2018

European Commission data showed, today, Tuesday, that consumer sentiment in the euro area rose in June to a three-and-a-half year high amid a steady easing of the restrictions of the “Covid-19” pandemic.

The Commission said its preliminary estimate of euro zone consumer sentiment improved to -3.3 points this month, the highest level since January 2018, from -5.1 in May.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected an increase to -3.0.

Across the EU as a whole, consumer sentiment rose 1.5 points in June to -4.5, the highest level since October 2018.
