Lukaku’s double leads Belgium to a broad victory over Russia in the second group of the European Championship “Euro 2020”.
Belgium easily beat Russia 3-0 on Saturday, thanks to a double by Romelu Lukaku and a Thomas Meunier goal, to consolidate its position as one of the favorites for the European Championship “Euro 2020”.
It took Belgium, the world number one, only ten minutes to open the scoring through Lukaku and then Meunier added the second goal.
Lukaku concluded the Belgium hat-trick two minutes before the end to boost his record and reach his 62nd goal for his country.
The goals came after a modest defensive performance from Russia, and the superiority of the Belgian team was evident during the match that brought them together in the second group competition in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The victory was achieved for the team of coach Roberto Martinez in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne and the participation of captain Eden Hazard as a substitute.
Belgium topped the group with a goal difference from Finland, which beat Denmark.
