England cross Romania before the start of the European Cup

England won a moral victory 1-0 over its guest Romanian team, in the friendly match that took place between them today, Sunday, in the last preparations of the (Three Lions) team to participate in the European Football Championship (Euro 2020).

Despite the victory, the England national team worried its fans, after appearing less than average in the match, which was the last rehearsal for it before the continental championship, which begins next Friday.

The Romanian team, which was unable to qualify for the European Nations, was a real match for England, and it could have equalized at least, had it not been for the misfortune that plagued its players. The only goal of the match came through Marcus Rashford in the 68th minute from a penalty kick, while Jordan Henderson missed another chance for England in the 79th minute.

England, who dreams of winning the second major title in its history after winning its only World Cup title when it hosted it in 1966, plays in Group D, alongside Croatia, Scotland and the Czech Republic.

The England team will open its matches in the tournament against Croatia, the runner-up of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, next Sunday, before facing Scotland in an all-British confrontation on June 18 in the second round, while it will meet with the Czech Republic four days later, at the end of its group stage matches.

On the other hand, Romania is preparing to resume its European qualifying campaign for the World Cup in Qatar next year, where it is in Group X, accompanied by Germany, North Macedonia, Armenia, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
