ABU DHABI, 15th June, 2020 (WAM) — The Emirates Muaythai and Kickboxing Federation has welcomed the recommendation of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee to adopt the two games as part of the Olympic Games in either Paris 2024 or Los Angeles 2028.
The Federation considered that this step is an important qualitative leap in the march of the two games, and that it will be followed by other steps for final approval, as the recommendation of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee came after the file fulfilled all the conditions for joining, and it will be presented to the Ordinary General Assembly of the International Olympic Committee for approval on the sidelines of the Tokyo Games Sports that will be held in Japan during the filter from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
His Excellency Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, President of the UAE and Arab Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federations, Vice President of the AFC, praised this important step, which represents a huge qualitative leap on the road to achieving the dream of all athletes belonging to the game in the world, noting that the recommendation of the Executive Council of the International Olympic Committee came as a result For the continuous efforts of the national, regional and continental federations, led by the Arab and Asian Federations, especially that the Asian Federation, in its meeting in Abu Dhabi in December 2019 on the sidelines of the Asian Championship, in the presence of Dr. Sakshi Tepswan, President of the International Federation, recommended the necessity of completing the files of joining the two games to join the Olympics.
He added, “We hope that the final approval and official accreditation will come so that the two sports can join the competition program of the Summer Olympics in Paris 2024, or until the next Olympic Games in 2028, because this represents the ambition and dream of every athlete affiliated with these two games.”
It is noteworthy that the UAE Muaythai and Kickboxing Federation was established in May 2017, and made a qualitative leap in the dissemination and development of the two games at all regional and international levels. Saeed Al Neyadi as President of the Arab Federation and Vice-President of the AFC, as well as the election of Tariq Al Muhairi as a member of the Executive Office of the International Muaythai Federation, and Secretary General of the Arab Federation.
