DUBAI, 29th June / WAM/ The Jebel Ali Free Zone “Jafza” – the leading business center for DP World – UAE Region – has improved and upgraded its road network and infrastructure to provide the best capabilities for companies operating in it to carry out their commercial activities. The projects that have been implemented over five years Years of developing sustainable facilities and building major facilities, valued at 2.484 billion dirhams… as part of its continuous endeavor to enable smart trade and provide facilities with international standards.
Supporting sustainability is an integral part of Jafza’s main principles, as it focused on investing in sustainability projects to encourage its customers to reduce their energy consumption, preserve natural resources and reduce carbon emissions, assuring its leadership in adopting these practices in the country and its commitment to the Dubai Energy and Water Demand Strategy 2030.
Jafza is among the first free zones in the country and the Middle East to use energy-saving lamps in its road network, with a value of 80 million dirhams. Its main projects, which amounted to 105 million dirhams to modernize the infrastructure, have achieved 30% savings in energy consumption, exceeding in several stages its required targets according to the Dubai Energy and Water Demand Management Strategy 2030. DP World and Jafza have also succeeded in completing one of the largest programs for the installation of solar panels rooftops, which generate about 45 gigawatt-hours per year.
Abdullah bin Demaithan, CEO and General Manager of DP World – UAE Region and Jafza, said that since its inception, Jafza has focused its attention on creating a business center equipped with the latest facilities that raise the operational efficiency of its customers at the same time, while reducing negative environmental impacts. Accordingly, all facilities in its free zone have been designed to take into account the special needs of manufacturing and trading companies along with protecting the environment.. Expressing his pride in the result it has reached as a preferred destination for practicing sustainable business, which has been chosen by many multinational companies included in the list “Fortune 500” for the 500 highest-revenue companies to have “Jafza” as its regional headquarters.
Ibn Demaithan added that the importance of its comprehensive projects to improve its facilities lies in its continuous need to develop and modernize its infrastructure and road network in Jafza. for growth.
The major developments that have been accomplished included improvements to the AED1.2 billion Jafza One building complex, the construction of 13 residential buildings, each consisting of ten floors, in addition to the ground floor accommodating 35,000 people, and the construction of a food court at a cost of 689 million dirhams. New buildings worth 130 million dirhams allocated to light industrial business units and warehouses. In addition to the extension of new bridges, the modernization of roads and the improvement of the storm water drainage network in North Jafza, at a cost of 280 million dirhams.
It is worth noting that Jafza has a total area of 57 square kilometers and is home to more than 8,500 registered companies from more than 140 countries. It is an integral part of the DP World ecosystem, a leading enabler of smart commerce.
