Dubai – Mubasher: A report by the Dubai Statistics Center showed that the annual general index of consumer prices decreased by 2.8 percent in May 2021, compared to the same period in 2020.

The prices of the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel section decreased by 8.42 percent, which reduced the index by 3.40 points, the food and beverage section by 3.70 percent, which reduced the index by 0.51 points, the entertainment and culture section by 0.87 percent, which reduced the index by 0.02 points, and the tobacco section. by 0.55 percent, and the Health Department by 0.04 percent.

The prices of each of the transportation section rose by 9.33 percent, which pushed the index by 0.96 points, the clothing and footwear section by 2.90 percent, which pushed the index by 0.06 points, the restaurants and hotels section by 1.07 percent, which pushed the index by 0.05 points, and the miscellaneous goods and services section. By 0.35 percent, which pushed the index by 0.02 points, the furniture and furnishing, household appliances and repair department by 0.34 percent, which pushed the index by 0.01 points, the communications department by 0.22 percent, which pushed the index by 0.01 points, and the education department by 0.14 percent, which pushed Index by 0.01 points.

On the monthly level, the general consumer price index decreased in May 2021 compared to March 2021 by 0.05 percent, as a result of the decrease in the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.46 percent, which reduced the index by 0.18 points, and the entertainment and culture section by 1.77 percent, which lowered the index by 0.03 points, the furniture and furnishings section, household appliances and repairs by 0.11 percent, and the communications section by 0.03 percent..

The prices of each of the food and beverages section rose by 0.90 percent, which pushed the index by 0.12 points, the transportation section by 0.20 percent, which pushed the index by 0.02 points, and the miscellaneous goods and services section by 0.32 percent, which pushed the index by 0.02 points..

While the prices of the tobacco section, the clothing and footwear section, the health section, the education section, and the restaurants and hotels section remained at their previous levels during the comparison period.
